  • to taste black pepper Essential for flavor
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley Chopped, for garnish

Method

  1. Sauté the Vegetables: Begin by melting two tablespoons of butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add finely chopped onion, celery, and bell pepper, stirring occasionally until they soften, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add Garlic and Seasonings: Once your veggies are softened, add minced garlic along with Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, thyme, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir for about a minute until fragrant.
  3. Incorporate Broth and Thickener: Gradually sprinkle in two tablespoons of flour while stirring. Slowly pour in three cups of low-sodium chicken broth while continuously stirring to combine all ingredients smoothly.
  4. Creamy Base Creation: Bring your mixture to a gentle simmer before adding one cup of heavy cream and one cup of whole milk. Stir well until fully incorporated.
  5. Cook the Shrimp and Corn: Add one pound of peeled shrimp along with one cup of corn kernels, allowing them to cook through for about five minutes or until shrimp turn pink and opaque.
  6. Finish with Garnishes: Remove from heat and stir in fresh parsley along with optional lemon juice before serving hot in bowls garnished with additional parsley.
